About us
Stap Verder is a collaborative project of the Sociëteit Afrikaanse Missiën (SMA) and the Stichting Pastoraal Diaconaal Centrum Bijlmermeer (SPDCB). As church organizations we want to contribute to the well-being of the inhabitants of the district.
At the location Stap Verder we develop activities and projects to take the residents of Zuidoost a step further.

Over the next three years, that's
1. Dutch language lesson and Language buddies who practice their language skills with people in the daily practice of the market, visits to an institution, etc.
2. A Knowledge center about access to facilities:

with office hours in which visitors can ask for information in a quiet conversation with a consultation employee and discuss the best way to get what they need. Problems can also be discussed confidentially.

practical help such as a postal address, a place to do the laundry, take a shower, cook a meal
3. Support of parents and children in education and training.

Many residents of Amsterdam Southeast have settled in Amsterdam Southeast as migrants from the rest of the Netherlands and the world. Frisians, Ghanaians, Pakistanis, Poles, Brabant and Surinamese end up here in a different kind of society, from village to city, from agrarian society to service providers, from a monoculture to many cultures, from self-sufficiency to a complex welfare state in which the government regulates your life. with the associated bureaucracy.

In practice it often proves not easy to find your way in a new country, let alone in the forest of social institutions and informal organizations that we have in Southeast.
Stap Verder provides information about the many possibilities and the impossibilities to settle here and to gain access to facilities. And if necessary, Stap Verder will accompany you until you find your own way, your goal is reached, or until the options are exhausted.

It does not do this from the role of government or institutions that have to abide by rules and citizens adhere to rules, but from the interest of the resident himself.
