Therapy Session

Coach/Psychologist

Residents of the Bijlmer come to Stap Verder with questions about immigration law, work and income, integration, Dutch lessons, sewing lessons, and personal administration and referral to healthcare and other institutions. In our consultation team we work with social workers, lawyers, an employee of Dokters van de Wereld and pastors. We inform people about their rights, fill in forms and write letters. Some of our visitors are undocumented. As a result, we see mothers with children, the sick and elderly and people with psychological problems. As social workers we can solve some of the practical problems, but we lack the expertise to work on psychological problems that form obstacles to progress in life.

Job description

As a coach or psychologist, after consultation with the other office workers, you will discuss and work with the visitor in other creative ways to identify those barriers and, if possible, remove them with the visitor.

In consultation, we will familiarize you with this specific field of work and guide you. You are available between 2 and 8 hours a week, or for example once every two weeks.

Profile

  • You are someone with life experience

  • have completed a coaching training and several years of experience or

  • are experienced as a psychologist in behavioral therapy

  • can also use creative work forms

  • can move at the visitors own pace and language

  • are able to work interculturally

  • speak at least English, other languages also welcome

  • are open to feedback

What does the work in Step Further bring you?

You will work in an intercultural and interdisciplinary team, which is flexible and with a sense of humor and a sense of reality, but also persistent and in solidarity with each other and visitors.

You get to know a world that shows the back of society and where inventiveness and survivability are admirable.

Appreciation is guaranteed, because you selflessly put the interests of the visitor first.

You can count on interest in your personal development from the board and coordinators.
