Social consultation
Information and referral
If you're going to live in a new city or country, you have to figure out how everything works there. You have to deal with a different tax system, you do not know the rules when it comes to looking for work and benefits. What are your rights and obligations?
In practice, it often turns out not to be easy to find your way in the forest of social institutions and informal organisations.
Stap Verder provides information about the many possibilities and impossibilities to find your place in Amsterdam Zuidoost and to gain access to facilities.
Open Office Hours
With questions about housing, (immigration) law, education, work, education, income, debts or problems with authorities, you can come to our open office hours. You do not need to make an appointment, but you may have to wait a while.
In a quiet conversation with a consultation employee, you can ask for information and discuss the best practice in your case to get what you need. The staff don't always know everything, but will do their best to find out with you and, if necessary, refer you to other agencies that know more about it.
If necessary, they will accompany you until you find your own way, your goal is reached, or until the possibilities are exhausted.
They do not do this from the role of the government or institutions that have to abide by rules and citizens adhere to rules, but from the interest of the resident himself, of yourself.
In the conversation with the employee you can ask for confidentiality. He or she will not share the information that you share with the employee with others.
Consultation hours are at the following times:
Monday 10am-5pm
Thursday 13.00-17.00 o'clock
Friday 10am-5pm
